Course Overview

This course is designed to support early childhood educators in completing the 120 clock hours of required education and developing the Professional Portfolio components necessary for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™.

Through a combination of instructor-led seminars, independent study, and applied learning experiences, students will explore the CDA’s eight subject areas, including child development, safe and healthy learning environments, supporting children’s physical and intellectual development, professionalism, and building positive relationships with families.

The course consists of ten modules aligned with the CDA competency standards and Functional Areas. Each module includes a two-hour seminar focused on key concepts, reflection, discussion, and practical application, along with independent assignments designed to strengthen students’ understanding and demonstrate competency in early childhood education practices.

Instructors will provide guidance, resources, and individualized feedback throughout the course to support students as they complete course requirements, prepare their Professional Portfolio, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for successful completion of the CDA Direct Assessment process.

Seminar activities may include:

• Interactive instruction and group discussions
• Case studies and classroom-based problem solving
• Hands-on learning activities
• Reflection and professional practice activities
• Portfolio development and CDA preparation support

Course Tuition and Payment Information

The total cost of the CDA preparation course is $1,000. This fee includes all required course materials, resources, and support needed throughout the program.

Tuition payments can be divided into four installments:

• $250 Registration Fee: Due by July 31 to reserve a space in the course.
• $250 Payment: Due at the first class session on September 16.
• $250 Payment: Due at the second class session on January 15.
• $250 Final Payment: Due at the seventh class session on March 12.

All course materials are included in the tuition fee. Additional costs associated with applying for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ through the Council for Professional Recognition, including the application and assessment fee of $525, are the responsibility of the candidate and are not included in the course tuition.

Course Completion and Attendance Expectations

This course is designed to prepare candidates to successfully complete the CDA education requirements, develop their Professional Portfolio, and apply for the CDA Credential™.

To successfully complete the course, participants are expected to:

• Attend all scheduled seminars and actively participate in course activities.
• Complete all required independent study assignments and portfolio requirements.
• Demonstrate professional commitment and engagement throughout the program.

Due to the structured nature of the course, participants are allowed one absence during the semester. Additional absences may impact successful course completion and the ability to meet CDA preparation requirements.

Please note that all tuition payments are non-refundable. If a participant does not complete the course requirements, withdraws from the program, or is unable to fulfill attendance and assignment expectations, tuition payments will not be refunded.
