What curriculum or learning philosophy do you follow?
We are a play-based preschool program that focuses on each child’s emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual strengths. We take pride in developing our own curriculum and uphold Developmentally Appropriate Practice as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our activities are chosen based on the three core considerations: knowing about child development and learning, knowing what is individually appropriate, and knowing what is culturally important.
Do you offer part-time or full-time options?
We offer both Full-Day (7:30-5:30) and Part-Day (9:00-2:30) options at our preschool. Before-care and after-care are not available for Part-Day students. An optional Summer Camp is also available for Part-Day families.
Is enrollment first come, first served?
No, our enrollment is based on a random lottery drawing that is split into 3 different categories each year during our formal registration period (January-February). Applications received after the initial deadlines are processed in order of receipt. Please note that waiting lists do not roll over to the next school year.
1 – Currently enrolled children and their new siblings
2 – Church Members of St. Luke’s UMC
3 – Community
How can we learn more about your school and programs that you offer?
Formal Information Sessions take place every November and January – dates will be posted in September of each year. Throughout the spring and summer, we offer monthly Mini Sessions where we go over the same information, just on a smaller scale. See available dates here.
What is your withdrawal policy?
Should your family choose to withdraw from St. Luke’s Day School, we require written notice at least 30 days in advance. Depending on the time of year and reason for withdrawal, your tuition deposits may or may not be refundable.
How do you handle discipline?
We follow the methodology of Conscious Discipline. It is a brain-based, thoroughly researched approach to social-emotional learning. It is an adult-first model where adults work on managing their own emotional states and then guiding children. Discipline is a process of creating safety, building connection, and then modeling and teaching self-regulation and problem-solving.
Do you provide snacks or meals?
We do not offer a meal program at St. Luke’s Day School. Parents provide all snacks and meals for their child’s school day. We are also unable to heat lunches (except for breastmilk and formula), so all food must be able to be stored in an insulated lunch kit.
Do you accommodate food allergies or special diets?
We are an allergy-alert campus. We diligently track all food allergies and alert teachers and parents in each class if a food allergy is present in their classroom.
Do you require children to be up to date on immunizations?
Are all staff trained in CPR & First Aid?
Yes! All staff members at St. Luke’s Day School are certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid and we are blessed to have a Registered Nurse on staff. All staff members also receive at least 24 hours of professional development and training each year.
