St. Luke’s Day School Kaleidoscope TK/K

Registration Information

During the 2020-21 school year SLDS launched a new class, Kaleidoscope TK (Transitional Kindergarten). In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the TK class was adapted to include Kindergarten students. This hybrid TK/K 20-21 class provided an excellent alternative for families choosing to remain at SLDS due to Houston’s COVID-19 outbreak. Considering the continuing pandemic uncertainty, we will go forward with the TK/K hybrid class for the 2021-22 school year.

Kaleidoscope TK/K 2021-22: Two classes in one!

Kaleidoscope TK (Transitional Kindergarten) is designed to meet the needs of children who have completed PreK to benefit from more time for social/emotional and physical development, continuation of play-based learning, and expansion of readiness skills while preparing for their next steps in formal education.

Kaleidoscope K provides differentiated instruction for students who are ready for Kindergarten curriculum while remaining in a familiar setting dedicated to meeting the developmental and academic needs of each child.

Kaleidoscope TK/K has a depth of instruction that sets this class apart from our pre-school program. An emphasis on strengthening social, emotional, and higher order thinking skills, fine-tuning Literacy and Mathematics readiness, supporting fine-motor development, and working in small groups is essential for TK/K. Additionally, the curriculum includes Science/Engineering, Social Studies, Physical/Health Education, Fine Arts, Writing, Digital Technology, and Spiritual content areas. Our Kaleidoscope TK/K students receive the time and opportunity to practice the skills they need to go forward as confident, capable, creative learners ready to make a successful change as they set forth into K or 1st grade elementary schooling.
