Mark your calendars for the annual St. Luke’s Day School Book Fair: Big on BOOKS, Where DINOS Soar with Santa! From November 26-29th, our newly renovated Fellowship Hall will be filled with tons of great books, music, and activities for a ROARing good start to the Christmas season! SLDS Book Fair is like no other! We celebrate the spirit of play and imagination by creating a magical, interactive space, centered on the joy of reading and telling stories together. Along with a MASSIVE selection of hand-chosen books to peruse, children and families are invited to participate in a number of fun activities!

Benefits: St. Luke’s Day School’s annual Book Fair is an important source of funds that primarily support teacher continuing education, school-wide literacy initiatives, and children’s scholarships.

Book Fair funds enable administrators and teachers to attend local, state, and national conferences such as NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), TAEYC (Texas AEYC), NAREA (North American Reggio Emilia Alliance), Zero to Three, and multiple aspects of Rice University’s School Literacy and Culture Project. To best serve the children in our care, we need to stay current with the latest research and best practices.

Literacy initiatives supported by Book Fair include our Children’s Library, the Early Literacy Lab for Threes and PreK and Kinder, and PreK and Kinder book bags. The library collection, which is available to classroom teachers and families, is improved and replenished through Book Fair donation books and proceeds. Book centers in every classroom, infants through Kindergarten, are filled with excellent books.

Finally, proceeds from Book Fair support tuition scholarships for children who would otherwise be unable to attend SLDS.
